YOU ALREADY HAVE A SALT POOL OR YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT CONVERTING TO A SALT POOL?
Contrary to what you might have heard, it has nothing to do with the filter and the soft water sensation on the skin users talk about, can also be felt with a chlorine pool, by adding a specific product, at a much lower cost and it reduces the amount of chlorine needed.
A cell which transforms salt into chlorine is installed on the plumbing and linked by a wire to a control box.
Since salt systems do not work with cold water, you will have to use chlorine in the spring and the fall, until the water temperature is above 60°F.
The lifespan of a cell varies according to lots of criteria, but it's between 2 to 5 years and since it is the most expensive part of the system, expect to have to spend money to replace it.
You can use no other chemicals if you wish, but just like for a chlorine pool, you will find it expensive, eventually, as all sorts or problems will occur.
The salt pool is quite particular and there is a line of products just for salt pools - Pristiva.
Scale and stains are a problem to be weary of.
The cell must be cleaned once or twice a year and since it is the most expensive piece of equipment, let's take care of it!
